Version: Draft 1 — in review
Community rules and standards
Ten sections, each with what it means and what happens when it is broken. Enforcement is stated because a rule with no stated consequence is a suggestion.
These rules are the version in force when a sanction is reviewed
Rules change by announcement, not silently. If a decision is made under an older version, the decision records which version applied.
In-character and out-of-character separation
What a character knows is not what you know.
- Information learned out of character — from Discord, from a stream, from a staff conversation — cannot influence in-character decisions. That is metagaming.
- Out-of-character channels exist for arrangement, questions and complaints. They are not a second, invisible scene.
- A character’s relationships, debts and grudges belong to that character, not to the account behind it.
- OOC hostility does not transfer into roleplay as a justification, and in-character conflict does not justify OOC hostility.
Enforcement: Metagaming is usually corrected with a conversation first. Repeat or deliberate metagaming leads to character consequences and can reach account suspension.
Consent, outcomes and fair play
No player gets to decide the result for another player.
- You may describe your own character’s intent and attempt. You may not declare another character’s reaction, injury, or death.
- Powergaming — forcing an outcome that leaves another player no room to respond — is not permitted.
- Scenes with significant consequences should leave room for a response: an emote, a demand, a decision.
- If two players genuinely cannot agree on an outcome, either side may pause the scene and ask for staff mediation.
Enforcement: Staff may void an outcome that was forced, with a recorded reason, and restore the affected character state where the platform allows it.
Fear, injury and consequence
Characters value their lives and their liberty.
- A character facing credible lethal threat is expected to behave like a person who wants to live.
- Injury and death are roleplay, not punishment. Characters recover in roleplay time, not real-world minutes.
- Repeated reckless behaviour that ignores consequence damages the setting as much as an exploit does.
- After a character death, in-character knowledge of the circumstances is limited to what survives the death.
Enforcement: Value-of-life breaches are treated as a roleplay quality issue and handled through coaching, character review, or progressive sanctions.
Communication standards
Text is the medium. Write it for the room.
- Local text roleplay is the primary channel: speech, /me actions and /do environmental descriptions.
- Local out-of-character chat is for brief clarification inside a scene, not for conversation.
- Private out-of-character messages are not a substitute for a scene and must not be used to influence roleplay.
- Write readable text. Do not use chat to advertise, recruit for other communities, or paste unrelated content.
Enforcement: Chat abuse and channel misuse are logged. Persistent misuse leads to chat restrictions before account-level sanctions.
Criminal roleplay and escalation
Crime is a story, not a score.
- Criminal activity must have an in-character motive and a plausible plan.
- Indiscriminate violence, random attacks on strangers, and crime purely to generate a reaction are prohibited.
- Escalation must be proportional: not every dispute is a shootout, and not every shootout is a war.
- Criminal organisations are responsible for the conduct of their members.
Enforcement: Escalation violations are reviewed with evidence. Sanctions range from scene voiding to removal from criminal organisations and account sanctions.
Economy, business and exploiting
Value must be earned inside the world.
- Money, items and property move only through authorised in-game actions. Client-supplied values are never authoritative.
- Duplicate accounts, arranged transfers, and out-of-character trades to move value between accounts are prohibited.
- Business ownership carries obligations: taxes, licences, employee pay and records are part of the roleplay.
- Exploits and bugs must be reported, not used. Using an exploit is worse than the exploit existing.
Enforcement: Economic violations are resolved by reversing the affected transactions where the ledger allows, followed by sanctions up to permanent removal.
Property, vehicles and the persistent world
The world outlives your session.
- Ownership of vehicles, properties and businesses is persistent and recorded.
- Do not obstruct, trap or degrade a location to prevent access to it.
- Entity spawning, asset manipulation and client-side modifications that change the shared world are prohibited.
- Report broken world state rather than attempting to correct it yourself.
Enforcement: World integrity violations are handled as exploit reports, with ownership and state restored from the authoritative record.
Community conduct
Roleplay does not require tolerating abuse.
- Harassment, threats, discrimination and doxxing are prohibited without exception, in character or out.
- Sexual content is not permitted on the platform.
- Respect roleplay boundaries that other members state, including subjects they will not roleplay.
- Do not impersonate staff, and do not present speculation as a staff decision.
Enforcement: These are the fastest route to removal. Serious breaches can end an account immediately, pending review.
Reporting and evidence
Reports decide cases. Retention decides fairness.
- Report through the support system with as much specificity as possible: time, characters involved, what happened.
- Recorded evidence is retained only as long as an investigation and appeal require.
- Filing a report in bad faith is itself a violation.
- Staff members involved in a scene do not decide the report about it.
Enforcement: Every reviewed report produces an outcome record with the reviewing staff member, the decision and the reason.
Enforcement, sanctions and appeals
Proportional, recorded, and appealable.
- Sanctions are progressive where the violation allows it, and immediate where safety requires it.
- Every sanction records a reason and the staff member responsible.
- Appeals are available for every account-level sanction and are reviewed by a different staff member.
- Decisions made in bad faith, including by staff, are correctable.
Enforcement: Appeals are submitted through the portal. The outcome of an appeal is recorded alongside the original decision.
