FAQ

Questions, answered without hedging

Where the answer is “not yet”, this page says so. Where the answer is undecided, it says that too — a community cannot ask its members to be honest and then hedge its own documentation.

A single-page list is available to assistive technology and to search engines regardless of the tab layout: the answers are structured content, not hidden markup.

All questions and answers

Can I play on a Project Vice City server right now?
No. The project is in development. There is no public server, no open whitelist and no download. The website is being built alongside the server framework, and the development status page records exactly what exists today.
Will Project Vice City support GTA VI?
We are building with that transition in mind, and we will not pretend it is available. GTA VI roleplay requires a licensed, technically supported multiplayer platform. Until one exists, the project targets GTA V on FiveM, and no GTA VI server is operating or promised.
Are you affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two?
No. Project Vice City is an independent community project. We use no unlicensed game art, no third-party logos and no branding that implies endorsement.
What does "serious text-based roleplay" actually mean?
Conversations, actions and environment are written rather than spoken: local speech plus /me actions and /do descriptions. Character-driven scenes are the main activity. Shooting is something characters sometimes do, not what the server is for.
How will joining work?
An account on this website, a whitelist application reviewed by a person, and then a character application. Character creation is a multi-step form with drafts you can return to. Nothing about that process is automated, and nothing is decided by how fast you type.
How many characters can I have?
Character slots are account-level and limited, and each character is reviewed separately. Slot limits are still being finalised; the portal will show your actual allowance rather than a guess.
Will there be a real economy?
Yes: persistent characters, businesses, employment, property and vehicles with an authoritative ledger behind them. Wages, living costs and currency are still being designed, so we are not quoting numbers that will change.
Who runs the community?
Community leadership is being assembled. The staff page lists real people with real responsibilities; it will stay empty until those roles are filled and announced rather than showing placeholder names.
Is there a Discord?
A community Discord is planned. The website only links an invite once one exists, so an unconfigured invite shows as "not yet available" instead of a dead link.
Can the rules change?
Yes, and the current version is published — including its status. Rules change by announcement, not silently, and sanctions are always judged against the rules in force at the time.
How is my account secured?
Your session lives in an httpOnly cookie and the website never stores a token where browser scripts can read it. Authorization is decided by the backend on every request — hiding a button is never treated as protection. Multi-factor authentication is planned for staff first.
What data do you hold about me?
Account details you provide, characters and applications you submit, and a record of security-relevant actions on your account. The privacy policy sets out the details, including what is retained after an account closes.
I found a bug or an exploit. What should I do?
Report it through the support channel and do not use it. Reports of exploits are treated as contributions; using one is treated as a violation.
Is there an age requirement?
The community is intended for adults. The precise minimum age is being reviewed for the jurisdictions we operate in, and the terms of service will state it plainly before registration opens.
